Project Worker, Georges Hill Short Term Accommodation, Dublin

Contract: Permanent, Full time

The Project Worker works with residents of George’s Hill STA, collaborating across internal and external services to help move individuals from homelessness into stable, long-term accommodation. They provide continuous support to the same young people from entry into the service until they transition onward

What you will do:

  • Work within Focus Ireland’s objectives, values, and policies, including Health & Safety.

  • Support daily operations of the STA on a 7-day rota, including reception duties.

  • Build trusting relationships with young people at risk of homelessness and help them move toward stability.

  • Manage a designated caseload and meet clients regularly to progress move-on plans.

  • Complete assessments and support plans using the Case Management system to assist independent living.

  • Provide advice and support on welfare rights, housing, training/employment, and access to accommodation.

  • Maintain accurate casework records and input data into Focus Ireland systems in line with GDPR.

  • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies, including housing providers and local authorities.

  • Attend meetings, supervision, reflective practice groups, and training as required.

  • Undertake additional duties as assigned to meet strategic objectives.

What you will need:

  • A Third Level qualification at degree level in the area of social care i.e. youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology etc and/or be a CORU registered Social Care Worker 

  • 1 year’s direct experience in the social care field working with disadvantaged young people.

  • A strong knowledge of issues affecting young people out-of-home and their impact on young people and their physical, emotional, and psychological development.

  • Relevant experience of dealing with high risk and challenging behaviour.

  • Relevant experience of working in a team which shares a common goal.

  • Ability to cope with and manage lone working including out of hours’ work

  • A working knowledge of services in the homeless sector. (Desirable)

  • An awareness of child protection issues and ways of responding appropriately to any concerns. (Desirable)

  • An awareness of a trauma informed approach to working with vulnerable populations. (Desirable)
